Brandon Davis Holds onto Points Lead at Mosport

CANADA (May, 17, 2009) -- Although Brandon Davis won the pole, he lost the Fast Five Coin Toss that inverted the field sending Davis and his No. 10 Applied Computer Solutions/Sun Micro Ford Mustang Cobra back to fifth.

When the lights went out, Davis flew from fifth to second and settled in behind the No. 5 Daskalos Developments Dodge Viper of Jason Daskalos. He would remain there for the rest of the race to win his fourth podium finish of the year.

“We’ve worked real hard on our launch system,” Davis said. “The start wasn’t exactly what we wanted, being on the dirty side, but Randy [Pobst] had a problem and didn’t get away like I’d expected. I settled in behind Jason [Daskalos]. I tried to push him and push him, but I couldn’t do anything with him. I thought about it a lot and considered sticking the nose in somewhere on the last lap but didn’t have a good opportunity. It’s a good finish and good points.

“I feel good about the finishes this year. I’d like to be winning! We don’t race to finish second or third. I’d like to win one. It’s still early though. I don’t put too much stock in winning the Championship at this stage because I think I was at this point last year, too. It’s a long Championship and hopefully we can keep it together.”

Round Five of Speed World Challenge GT will continue at Watkins Glen International Raceway in July. This break in the schedule will give Davis and the ACS Express team some time to savor leading the Championship.

Davis remains the Championship points leader with 44 points ahead of Tony Rivera (371).
